Here’s Our Why

At The Heartbuilt Co., our mission is deeply personal. We’re not only support workers — we’re sisters. Growing up, both of us had brothers with disabilities, each with different needs and strengths. Tayla navigated life alongside a brother with a physical disability, while Tiana’s journey was shaped by supporting a brother with ASD. These experiences shaped our values, our empathy, and our understanding of what genuine, people-first support looks like.

We started The Heartbuilt Co. to bring that same understanding to the families and participants we meet today. With our combined experience, dedication, and passion for empowering others, we aim to provide support that is meaningful, respectful, and built from the heart.

This is Tayla and her brother Jake

Growing up alongside Jake has shaped everything Tayla believes in: kindness, patience, purpose, and the power of truly seeing people for who they are. He’s the reason she shows up with so much passion, drive, and love for this work.

Every program, every support, every idea… it all comes back to him.

Her why. Her reminder. Her drive.

The Heartbuilt Co. exists because of the bond between a sister and her brother — and that’s what makes it so special.

This is Tiana, and this is her why.

Behind everything she does at The Heartbuilt Co is the memory of her brother, Leyton. Leyton was her biggest teacher in life — he showed her what patience, compassion, and true connection really look like. Although Leyton is no longer with us, his impact lives on in every choice Tiana makes. He is the reason she shows up with such purpose. He is the reason she leads with empathy. And he is the reason she pours her whole heart into creating a space where people feel safe, valued, and supported.

Tiana does this work because she knows firsthand how important genuine care really is.

And today, we honour Leyton — the inspiration behind it all.
